‘Happy Feet’ is a cute little story of The Emperor Penguins of Antarctica who sing the ‘Heart Song’ to find a soul mate. The young and unfortunate Mumble is the worst singer of the community but he is instead blessed with the ability to tap-dance at his own tune. Norma Jean his mother is happy about her son’s unique ability, but his father Memphis, like others believes that he is just ain’t a penguin.
When all the other young penguins are instructed to choose their own heart song Mumble can only squat. It is sad because it means that Mumble will not be able to find true love ever. While the other young little Antarctican creatures are singing songs straight out from the oldies radios, Mumble swings and jives his tap steps at his own tune. Though the little ones thoroughly enjoy his dance and appreciate his play, the oldies are particularly unhappy with his attitude, and the Emperors decide to call him off community.
Poor little Mumble is exiled, and it is then that he encounters another group led by Ramon, they are Adelie Penguins and joins them. They find his unique ability very adorable and enjoy his dance moves to no end. Very amusingly these little creatures talk in a unique Hispanic accent. They are decidedly very much un-Emperor like penguins, who love to y and celebrate little happiness of life.
Here Mumble meets Lovelace the counselor and Guru of all emotional struggles. He is another crazy feathered penguin, who charges a trifle to answer solutions to life’s problems. Along with Adelie and Lovelace, Mumble sets on his journey on the vast land, and happens to have few epical encounters. He thus proves to everyone, that what matters most is being true to yourself and try and make a difference to the world.
The film is not quite kiddish when it shows the mating dance in a humorous version of Prince’s ‘Kiss’. The movies bring around famous musical stars like, Elvis Pricley, Marilyn Monroe and many more.
Happy Feet is one of the most visually beautiful films rendered yet. The film grades the animals as the top priority in the life cycle, and not humans. The direction and the animation of the film is another point, which places the film atop the others. As the scenes unfold on the screen the fabulous animation is revealed which, makes an even better impact of the film on the little spectators.
The voice over of the few very popular voices like Robbin Williams and Hugh Jackman give the film a little more to listen to. If you wish to just see little cute penguins singing, dancing and having abundant of fun, this is the film you are suppose to hit but yes, don’t forget to tag along the little ones, since the film is made especially for them.
